J Brand - My Customer, My Responsibility

Green Technologies

With sustainability being a major global concern, businesses across vertical markets are looking at how they can be "seen to be green".
The J Brand mentality is to work with Green Technologies that, not only meet the Government's environmental requirements, but also offer clients a real and demonstrable return on investment.

Voltage Optimisation

An excellent example of this is the work that J Brand has carried out with power Voltage Power Optimisation® (VPO) technology, which reduces organisation's electricity consumption, costs and carbon emissions, whilst also protecting the electrical infrastructure from poor power quality and spikes.

A Greener Future for IT?

This is an area of networking that is looking at sustainability.  It  is the emerging "Green Ethernet" solutions which will implement special power-saving features that detect link status and cable length and adjust power usage accordingly.
In 2007 the IEEE 802.3az, supported by US Federal Executive Order 13423 and the US Green Building Council identified Energy Efficient Ethernet as a priority project. This was, amongst others, prompted by the fact that the IT sector emits a considerable amount of CO2.
In a standard workday scenario where PCs are used for 10 hours a day and powered off for 14 hours a day, connected to the switch using 20 meter cables, it is projected that Green Ethernet can save up to 44% of the power used for each system.
If such active components could be used instead of current versions, energy consumption would not only drop, but heat build-up - a major issue in data centres - would decrease considerably as well. And this is within the grasp of technology already!
Although this technology is still in development, we at J Brand can help you decide which of the new cabling system categorys (Cat 5e, Cat 6A, Cat 7A etc) is right for you now and tomorrow.

Intelligent Metering

It is often said that there is no point in trying to save energy until you have measured what energy you are using.
J Brand has a range of purpose built monitoring solutions for retrofit, new build and legacy electrical installation monitoring, which enables power usage to be monitored and managed.
These can be permanent fittings, or temporary portable metering solutions.

 Low Energy and LED Lighting

J  Brand work with major manufactures who offer a full range of low energy and LED lamps as a direct replacement for various standard lighting applications such as low energy and mains halogen down lights and Tungsten halogen flood lights.
J  Brand can organise a lighting survey where we will provide a full detailed report on the existing lighting. Then, based on the location, the duration of operation and the output of the lighting we will recommend a direct low energy or LED replacement.
These new low energy lamps can be installed directly into the existing light fittings, thereby reducing the need for new light fittings to be installed, keeping material costs down to a minimum whilst offering savings of between 60-70% on annual electricity bills.
In addition to the annual savings on electricity bills due to the long life of the low energy and LED lamps, annual maintenance costs will also be greatly reduced.

Automated Lighting Controls

J Brand can reduce the cost of lighting by the replacement of traditional switches, with automated controls. We can offer a full range of PIR motion sensors, time lag switches and dusk till dawn sensors to remove the cost of wasted power in a range of areas. In WCs, basement corridors, even external rear fire escape emergency lighting and perimeter security lighting.

Greener Printing

J Brand can reduce the cost and carbon footprint of printing within the business. J Brand can organise a survey of your existing printer usage and provide a solution for Greener printing. We are championing with our partners the "print less save more approach".
Using centralised network printing, high yield cartridges and the correct energy efficient printers for the various uses we can identify inefficiencies and scope for further savings enabling optimisation of the print fleet.

Waste Handling

J Brand is fully compliant with the WEEE Regulations (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations). We are fully certified by the Environment Agency as Waste Carriers and Brokers. We will remove redundant equipment and either recycle or arrange disposable as appropriate.
